About the universities—Oakland University

Oakland University’s School of Education and Human services has developed its Program for IB Educators to prepare K-12 teachers and administrators in international education. The course of study has been recognized as meeting the Level 1 IB teacher award requirements for IB Primary Years Programme, IB Middle Years Programme and IB Diploma programme teachers. The programme focuses on the following five key areas:

  • Introduction to the International Baccalaureate Philosophy
  • Global and International Education
  • Teaching, Learning and the IB Curriculum
  • Assessment in IB Programs
  • Professional Learning through Action Research

Following successful completion of the course, participants are eligible to apply for the Level 1 award in one of the three IB programmes.
