A professor of global health at Sweden´s Karolinska Institute his current work focuses on dispelling common myths about the so-called developing world. The world no longer consist of two types of countries; industrialized and developing, but there is a socioeconomic continuum of social and economic development. Many countries are moving towards prosperity twice as fast as the old west ever did. In Hans Rosling´s hands, data sings. Global trends in health and economics come to vivid life and the big picture of global development-with some surprisingly good news-snaps into sharp focus. |

Introducing Paul Nicklen ... Growing up in a small Inuit community in Canada's Arctic, Paul Nicklen spent his early years hunting and travelling on the land. On Baffin Island, Nicklen developed exceptional field skills and a keen interest in observing wildlife. Best known for his vivid and intimate wildlife photos for National Geographic, Nicklen started out a biologist in the Northwest Territories, gathering data on such species as lynx, grizzlies, and polar bears. Today he bridges the gap between scientific research and the public, showing how fragile and fast-changing habitats are profoundly affecting wildlife. |
