1. How do I request an IB transcript?

If you are applying to universities outside of Canada and the United States, please click here. If you are applying to universities in Canada and/or the United States, please click here.

2. How much does each transcript cost?

The cost is free of charge for up to three universities within the first three months after an exam session. After that time period or for additional transcripts, the cost is USD $14 or CAD $16 per transcript to an institution*, payable by either check or money order only to "International Baccalaureate Organization".

3. What if this is my first transcript request? Do I still have to pay for it?

For the most recent examination session (May or November), IB Americas will send transcripts free of charge to three Canadian universities or one US university and/or two Canadian universities when requests are made before 15 September (for the most recent May Session) or 15 March (for the most recent November Session). However, if you graduated prior to this year or if you are making a request beyond the time limits described above, please submit your request with payment.

4. What if I tested this year and requested my transcript through my school?

Each year, IB exam results are released to universities on the 5th of July (for May session) and the 5th of January (for November session). If you requested to have a transcript sent to a university through your high school coordinator, your transcript will be mailed out in late July or late January, depending on which exam session you tested in. You may want to follow up with the university to ensure that your transcript was received.

5. Can I pay for my transcript by credit card or cash?

No, currently IB Americas can only accept transcript requests by mail and each request must be paid for by check or money order. Wire transfer is an option for international students.  If either of these payment options is difficult for you, please contact the IB Americas transcript officer via email or by phone +1 301 202 3064.

6. Can I pay for my transcript by wire transfer?

Yes. Please contact the IB Americas transcript officer via email or by phone

+1 301 202 3064 for further instructions.

7. How long will it take for my transcript to arrive?

Transcript requests are processed in the order in which they are received. Please allow 10 to 15 business days for your transcript to arrive at the university that you requested. During the peak months of December and January, and from July through September, transcript requests may take longer to process. IB Americas is not responsible for delays in the postal service or for the processing of your transcript at the university. Some universities receive transcripts electronically. If this is the case, please contact your university to notify them that your transcript has been sent and of the year you took your exams so that they may download it.

8. How do I know if my university receives transcripts electronically?

You can access the list of Canadian and US universities that receive transcripts electronically here .  Even if your university receives IB transcripts electronically, you must still submit your transcript request in writing, by mail, to the IB Americas office.

9. Is there a way to expedite my transcript request?

Transcript requests received with an additional payment of USD/CAD $35 (for US institutions) or USD/CAD $40 (for Canadian institutions)* may be sent to a university by courier, providing the university is not on the electronic transcripts list. Please provide a separate check or money order if expedited courier service is required. Please note that we cannot deliver transcripts to P.O. Boxes; therefore, we will need a physical street address for delivery. We do not contact students with tracking numbers for expedited service.

10. Can I have my transcript sent to my home address?

Yes, but only in certain circumstances. Please contact the IB Americas transcript officer via email or by phone +1 301 202 3064 before requesting your transcript be sent to your home address.   Transcripts sent to a student's home address will take longer to process than transcripts requested for a university.  Please be advised that you should not open the transcript if you intend to give it to your university as most will not accept it as an official transcript.

11. Can I make a transcript request via fax or email?

Transcript requests sent by fax or email will not be processed or acknowledged. All transcript requests must be made by mail only.

12. What should I do if the institution tells me my transcript has not been received?  The institution should receive your transcript within 10 to 15 business days.  If the institution receives electronic transcripts/results, please check with the admissions or registrar's office before calling the IB as electronic transcripts/results are available immediately from a secure website.

13. I do not know my candidate code.  What should I do?

Your candidate code is not required to request a transcript.  However, it can be found on the left hand corner of your IB certificate or diploma.

14. I want to access my IB grades online, but I do not know my personal code and/or PIN.  What should I do?

Unfortunately, due to security concerns the IB cannot provide students with their personal codes or PINs.  Candidates who have lost this information must contact the IB Diploma Programme Coordinator at their high school.

15. How can I receive a replacement IB diploma or certificate?

To request a replacement IB diploma or certificate, please email replacementdocs@ibo.org.
