IB Diploma Programme examiners

Become an IB examiner

IB Diploma Programme examiners

The International Baccalaureate (IB) currently has over 10,500 examiners who together assess the work of over 100,000 Diploma Programme students. Examiners are appointed to mark externally assessed work or to moderate internally assessed components (reviewing the original marking of teachers). Candidates’ work is assessed against prescribed and well-defined criteria or markschemes. The role of examiner is highly valued, and the IB places emphasis on the professional integrity of individuals in examining positions.

As an examiner you will play an important role in maintaining the quality of assessment for which the IB is known worldwide. You will have the opportunity to gain an insight into the IB assessment process, receiving invaluable training in an online environment, enhancing your professional development.

Examiner recruitment is an ongoing process and applications are welcome throughout the year for all Diploma Programme subjects. If you are interested in becoming an examiner, please read the examiner recruitment policy, which provides applicants with information relating to the qualifications and experience that the IB requires. All applicants should read this policy prior to completing an application form.
