Particpation criteria and academic content

Participant criteria

  • Teachers and coordinators with an intermediate level of MYP experience.
  • Only teachers and coordinators working either at an MYP authorized school or at a school that has acquired MYP candidate status on or before 1 September 2007 are eligible to register for this conference.
  • Participants are expected to have been teaching the MYP for one year or more and not to have previously attended a subject specific/coordinators’ IB regional workshop (unless in another subject).
  • We ask coordinators not to send teachers new to the MYP to this workshop.

Overall aim

  • The aim of the workshops is to support teachers and coordinators in deepening their understanding of the MYP and providing them with tools to further develop the MYP in their subject or school.
  • Each workshop will have its specific objectives, and have a set of common ones:
    • work with the new guide
    • unit planner and interim objectives
    • guidance for interdisciplinary planning
    • philosophy and fundamental concepts of the MYP
    • assessment criteria and their application to MYP (samples and practical work)
    • Moderation and monitoring of assessment

Working language

  • The working language for all workshops is English
  • except
    • language A in Arabic
    • language B in French.

Each workshop will offer 12 sessions focusing on supporting teachers with MYP general and subject-specific issues. Sessions will be a mixture of information, discussion, practical work and reflection.
Please note if any workshop does not meet the minimum number of 10 participants before the close of registrations, it will be cancelled. If either the arts or technology workshops does not meet this minimum, then the workshops will be combined.
