One Year Fixed-Term Contract
Salary: £29,185 - £36,481 per year

The database administrator (DBA) is responsible for the management, installation, design, maintenance, security and performance of all database instances and Oracle application software. The post holder must ensure high levels of service availability in line with business service requirements and is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, integrity and availability of all databases which requires 24 * 7 * 365 uptime and are accessed by all the IB stakeholders globally.
The post holder develops, implements and oversees database policies and procedures and acts as a trusted consultant to both internal and external development teams and IT management, as well as making recommendations for improvements. This requires close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders including developers and suppliers of Oracle and database services.
The post holder must be able to work effectively with minimum supervision, and with people from a wide variety of cultures. S/he may be required to support offices in Europe time zone.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in an IT discipline, with relevant professional certification
- Substantial DBA experience in a similar environment using Oracle database and Oracle e-business suite on a Unix operating system
- Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) and/or Oracle Certified Professional and experience with other database platform would be advantageous
- ffective project management skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, which will include good written, oral communication and presentation skills
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks
- Experience of managing a small team
- Flexibility to work across 2 time zones (Singapore and UK)

The post is based in Cardiff.
