Assessment (Academic division)
The research team within the assessment directorate is responsible for ensuring that IB assessment and its examinations processing are appropriately informed by current research. As such, the department:
- Provides and analyses a rich source of meaningful data to effectively support assessment practices and the curriculum review process
- Ensures that assessment is well-grounded in current understanding of best practice
- Underpins potential changes in assessment and marking practice in the light of advances in technology with appropriate research to ensure that the IB does not risk the integrity of its results
- Ensures that the grades awarded to candidates are valid, reliable and fair and that standards remain consistent over time.
