Using the IB identity

We have a powerful identity based upon our mission and values, an identity that we wish to be recognized and respected around the world. It reinforces the fact that, wherever we work in the world, we are all working towards one mission and under one name – “International Baccalaureate” (IB). We are very proud of our identity, as it plays an integral role in strengthening the IB internationally.

With the privilege to use the identity comes a responsibility to treat it with the care and conscientiousness that the IB brings to all activities. These pages outline our policy for the use of the identity – a policy that is designed to encourage use (as only through frequent usage will recognition increase) while maintaining consistency.

Therefore, when using the IB identity you must:

  • Ensure your school is an IB World School, fully authorized to teach one of the three IB programmes.
  • Download the IB World School logo, screensavers and IB Learner Profile video for use in accordance with the rules on intellectual property and copyright
  • Finally, observe the identity guidelines for schools - Available to download as an Adobe PDF document: Identity guidelines for schools [372 kb, PDF]

Need help?

If you need advice or support applying any of these requirements then please contact the IB communications team who will be pleased to help.

Why these requirements?

Respecting and following these rules will ensure our identity is consistent and coherent throughout the IB community and that the legal status of our trademark will be maintained and protected. It is an essential step in further building the awareness, recognition and loyalty our work deserves.
