New appointments to IB assessment
We are pleased to announce recent appointments to director-level posts in IB assessment.
Carolyn Adams, currently examinations services director at AQA, UK will join the IB to become assessment operations director. Carolyn will manage examination administration for thousands of IB students being assessed around the world, implementing the new ECMS (electronic component management system, consisting of the transition from paper-based marking to electronic marking), and setting up two additional assessment centres in the Americas and Asia- Pacific.
Jacqueline Harris, head of diploma assessment at the IB since 2001, has been promoted to the role of assessment director. In this role she will deliver excellence in the standards and quality of the assessment of IB programmes while maintaining the distinctive difference between the IB and other national systems, ensuring that the IB remains at the forefront of educational innovation. She has led many significant accomplishments over the years—including the implementation of electronic feedback for schools and examiners, introducing online standardization and grade award meetings.
IB director general Jeffrey Beard commented,
Both Carolyn and Jacqueline bring a wealth of experience in educational assessment in a high stakes environment and we are incredibly proud to be making these appointments. Their combined skills, experience and strong educational ethos will help us deliver the needed changes with increased confidence over the coming years.
